Humic acid improves the soil’s ability to retain essential nutrients like potassium, calcium, and magnesium, making them more available to plants over time. It also boosts microbial activity in the soil, which helps with nutrient cycling and overall soil fertility. Due to its larger molecular size, humic acid isn’t easily absorbed by plant roots, but it’s highly effective at binding (chelating) nutrients in the soil, keeping them accessible for plant uptake.
Fulvic acid, on the other hand, has a lower molecular weight, allowing it to be more easily absorbed by plants. It enhances nutrient efficiency, helping nutrients get to work quickly within the plant to correct deficiencies and reduce stress. Fulvic acid plays a key role in transporting nutrients from the soil into the plant, supporting stronger growth and helping to prevent yield loss. While both can be applied to the soil, humic acid focuses on improving soil structure and nutrient retention, whereas fulvic acid ensures those nutrients are efficiently delivered to the plant. Together, they contribute to healthier crops and better yields.
Humic substances are vital components of soil organic matter, playing a crucial role in enhancing soil fertility and plant growth. They are primarily categorized into two types based on their processing and solubility: raw humics and extracted humics.
